This rice caused some cheering in our student apartment because it really is something special. The combination of cumin, turmeric, garlic and jasmine rice aaa. I could eat plain jasmine rice everyday anyway but with all this flavours – it makes it even more delicious. Most Of the spices are from Svilna pot .

For 4 people; Very simple; 40 minutes


2 spoonfuls of coconut oil
1 knife end of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of grounded cumin
1 teaspoon of turmeric
3 cloves of garlic; minced
300 g jasmine rice
1 cube of vegetable stock
500 ml water
2 bay leaves

  1. In a bigger pot melt the coconut oil and add cinnamon, cumin, turmeric and garlic and saute for around 2 minutes (not for too long so it doesn’t burn).
  2. Add jasmine rice and saute for around 3 minutes. Cover with water mixed with vegetable stock. Add salt and bay leaves and cook covered for around 10 minutes or until almost all the liquid is gone.
  3. Set the pot aside and leave covered for 15 minutes more.
  4. Serve.

Wise-ass corner

This dish is a wonderful side dish but if you saute also some pieces of vegetable it can become a main dish.
