This post is connected with the one from the previous monday where I was talking about salads and how I approach them 🙂 Salads are much more interesting if we add them some interesting dressing that goes beyond the traditional Slovenian combo – vinegar+oil+salt. I approach them very similarly as salads and keep the following thing in my minds.

Something fatty What is a dressing without something yummy and full of healthy fats? If you don’t want to blend the ingredients for your dressing just use oils (olive, pumpkin, sesame) or nut butters (peanut, sesame, almonds). They will mix with other ingredients very easily. If you have time, will and a blender then use cashews, almonds, walnuts, peanuts, sesame, avocado,.. Something sour Since I’m a big fan of sour stuff I almost always use grape vinegar. But sourness and freshness can come also from balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, tamarin,… Some people even use the juice of oranges but I’m not a fan of this idea 🙂 Something salty If you thing the saltiness can come only from salt – think again. You can also use soy sauces (I like the light one the most), fish sauce and other condiments. Something different To make your dressing really the best you should play around with other additions. For example make it better with a teaspoon of honey. Wooot? No, really, honey tastes so well 🙂 With some sriracha, fresh or dried herbs, nutritional yeast, mustard, ginger, turmeric etc. you will make your dressing extra delicious.

In the past I already did some recipes with dressings that you can take as an example. Like this one with peanuts and soy sauce or this one with tamarind and ginger.

same same but different
